Agricultural Development in Himachal Pradesh, Agricole Publishing Academy, New Delhi, 1983, R. Swarup & B.K. Sikka.
Since the reorganisation of the Punjab in 1966 when its hilly areas were merged with Himachal Pradesh, this is the first book giving details of agricultural development in different parts of the reorganised Himachal Pradesh. The book very lucidly presents as to how far various policy measures undertaken during the period reduced the regional disparity in the use of natural resources and agricultural production. In addition, a scientific analysis has been attempted to show the extent to which modern technology was able to make roads into hill agriculture. Contribution of different factors in agricultural growth has also been analysed and the same forms the core of this publication. It makes use of the simple as well as the sophisticated tools such as the exponential equation and a seven factor additive model for assessment of relative contribution of area, yield, cropping pattern and their interactions.
