Economics of Apple Production in Himachal Pradesh, 1985, by B.K. Sikka and R. Swarup

Abstract: Fruit farming is most suited to the terrain of Himachal Pradesh. This is necessitated not only for better resource utilization but also for higher profitability, which such enterprises ensure. In fact the economic reasons must be more compelling in this regard, though no such systematic studies have been conducted. The efficiency of grading and marketing of fruits also plays a decisive role in determining the level of profitability from horticultural enterprises. This study envisaged to probe the following issues regarding apple orchards raising.
